MARRIED WITH CHILDREN:: ENVYING CELEBRITY BODIES AFTER BABY

This one will probably be a quick one. No deep quotes, just what I’m thinking and feeling at this moment. I just got in from the gym about an hour ago. As I’ve told you all before, I am trying to be the best me possible by my 30th birthday (October 23rd 2015), physically and mentally. At 21 I found out I was pregnant with Smoo and my body has never been the same since. This is something, that like many women who have had children, is a dagger to myself self-esteem. Now over 7 years and 2 kids later, I am almost 30lbs over my original pre-baby weight (before Smoo) with stretch marks, stubborn fat deposits and ripples, dimples and cellulite in places I didn’t know they could exist.

I often get compliments on how great I look for having 2 kids, while I am appreciative and flattered, I in no way feel that way about myself. Like many of you I have body insecurities, probably more than most and I am a little apprehensive to talk about them. Often I look at celebrities, mainly those who have kids (Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, JLO) and feel a little jealous. After baby, their bodies seem to go back to how it was before and even better in some cases. So I’m left with the lingering question…Why Me? Why am I still struggling to lose baby weight? Why do I have stretch marks, after I tried everything to prevent them and then did everything to get rid of them? Why are my thighs and butt prone to cellulite. I work out, I moisturize, I eat well, drink water, etc. Why?Why?Why?

I’m sure that many women feel the same way. So right now, I’m telling myself and you to STOP it!! Stop comparing yourself to celebrities. I am sure that just like us, celebrities have their own set of insecurities. They are only human. Keep in mind that celebrities have nutritionists, trainers, chefs and nannies to watch the kids while they workout, so of course they have the upper hand. But you and I can have the bodies we want as well. It will take a little extra planning and will power, but it can be done. We all can sacrifice a little here and there and make things happen that we really want. Whether you want to set aside a few extra bucks for a trainer, a chef, a plastic surgeon, whatever you need to do to make you more confident, you can do it .

It’s of course easier and cheaper to run out for a loaded burger at lunch, instead pre planing your meals, time consuming, I know, but don’t you want to look and feel great? Other day to day things to do, cut out sodas and sugary drinks as well as candy, cake and chips. Trust me I know it can be hard, I love candy and cheese, but ease them out one by one. And don’t totally cut out your favorites, you’ll never stick to it. Have a cheat day here and there. I’ve learned that it’s true, abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym.

But yes, you MUST also get active. Join a gym. It doesn’t have to be some super expensive gym. I go to Retro Fitness in Lanham, MD, it’s less than $20 a month, fun classes included and they also provide personal training for $20 a session. Very affordable. I’m sure there are deals like this all over. If you don’t like the gym find another physical activity that you would enjoy, maybe a sport, bike riding anything out of your usual activity. In the spring and summer months, I like to go to the track to jog and also hit the bleachers.

I think the hardest part for us moms is finding the time. We spend most of our days working and then taking care of the family, leaving us exhausted and with little time to ourselves, I want you all to carve out a minimum of 3 days a week, 1 hour get active, you can do. Leave the kids with dad, grandma, a sitter or to the gym’s daycare and get it in. No more looking at celebrities pics and being envious, wishing your body looked like that. Get active, eat better and stay consistent and it will!!! Use their photos as inspiration. Today I did 7 miles in gym, looking at Amber Rose’s latest IG pics as inspiration, lol. In 6 months, with consistent work and diet, I want to look in the mirror, feel confident, sexy and be in love with what I see and be motivation for someone else!!! I know it will be tough, but anything worth having is. Here’s to being a SUPER MILF!!!
